Lake Anna’s First Golf Course Community
Cutalong will be the first community on Lake Anna to boast its own 18-hole golf course, complete with a driving range, practice area and clubhouse. Just don’t get distracted by the views of one of Virginia’s most beautiful lakes. Rolling hills and waterfront landscapes provide the perfect backdrop of golf, boating, hiking, picnicking or pretty much anything outdoors.
The Cutalong community is being built on a thousand acre site in Lake Anna ideally situated between Washington, D.C., Richmond and Charlottesville. The master plan calls for a mixture of surprisingly affordable equestrian estate lots, single-family homes, townhomes and golf cottages. Whether you’re looking for a first home, a second home or place to retire, be sure to get here while there’s still time to acquire some of the most idyllic scenery in the Virginia countryside.
Those fortunate enough to find a spot at Lake Anna’s Cutalong will soon enjoy woodland trails, a waterfront lifestyle and a magnificent par 71, 18-hole golf course—each hold inspired by the great courses of the world.
Golf course architect, Tom Clark, planned the course to sit lightly on the land, incorporating the beautiful natural terrain. Every precaution has been taken to preserve existing wetlands and minimize dirt removal. Home sites sit on only one side of each hole to maximize the view for both the golfer and homeowner. Even the overall Cutalong cluster community design leaves over 50% of the land area as green space.
Tom lives in the Lake Anna area and has been walking the land and planning the Cutalong course for a decade. He’s a hands-on architect involved in hundreds of golfing projects from plans to play. Working with him is Ron Whitten, the architectural editor of Golf Digest who has studied courses all over the world to assign their ratings.
When completed, the Cutalong golf course will include a clubhouse and a pro shop. The driving range and practice area are already underway. The first nine holes should be completed soon after.
If golf isn’t your sport, not to worry!
There will be plenty of other activities for you to pursue at Cutalong. Already, many have come here just for the lake alone. After all, Lake Anna offers 13,000 acres of pristine water perfect for swimming, boating, fishing and watersports.
At Cutalong, you’ll have easy access to the lake whether or not you live on the waterfront. The community plan calls for a clubhouse with a swimming pool, fitness center and lighted tennis court. There will be a fully staffed central stable for residents with horses. A boat concierge will have your boat waiting for you at Cutalong’s docks when you’re ready to take to the water. And there will be a snack bar, walking trails, campsites, playgrounds and gold panning stations along Contrary Creek.
Venture outside Cutalong, and you’ll find some of the finest antiquing. American history, scenic farmland, quaint towns, inns and wineries the Piedmont region has to offer. For a more exciting adventure, grab the kids or grandkids and head to King’s Dominion theme park, roughly 30 minutes from your door.
