| Restoration Tours at James Madison's Montpelier |
| The Montpelier mansion is now being restored to re-create the home that James and Dolley Madison knew in the 1820s. The restoration project, expected to be complete in 2008, is reversing changes made to the Montpelier mansion after President Madison’s death in 1836. With restoration, the essence of Madison will be returned to his lifelong home, allowing visitors to directly experience the day-to-day life and enduring ideas of this early American president and patriot. The home is open throughout the restoration, providing visitors with the rare opportunity to witness the rebirth of the lifelong home of a Founding Father. |
